Sunshine Triumph Over ASO Chlef

Dele Olorundare and Izu Azuka second half goals secured maximum points for Sunshine Stars against visiting ASO Chlef of Algeria in Caf Champions League Matchday 3 Group B encounter at the Otunba Dipo Dina stadium, Ijebu Ode on Sunday.

The heartwarming win takes the Nigerian campaigners' points haul to four against its foes who are still without a point after three matches.
Sunshine Stars will in fortnight travel to Algeria as guests of bottom placed ASO Chlef in the reversed fixture of Matchday 4.
Expectedly, the match started on high with both sides contesting the ball but it was the home lads who were unlucky not to have earned the opener.
Striker, Izu Azuka, Dele Olorundare, Akombo Ukeyima, Ajani Ibrahim and Bayo Ojo came close scoring but poor finishing robbed them of the desired goal.
Ajani's pull-out mid in the first half was booted wild by Ojo while a sitter of a goal in the 41st minutes by defender, Godfrey Oboabona was palmed into corner by ASO goalkeeper.
The catalogue of misses continued as Ukeyima's header missed target by inches in the added minutes of the first half.
Resumption of play saw Sunshine Stars intensifying their search for a goal and it did not take long as they were rewarded in the 48th minute as hard working Olorundare headed home the opener.
The goal became the tonic as the Akure Gunners continued piling pressure on their opponents' vital areas whose answers were to tighten their defence with the aim of holding the rampaging Nigerians.
Their holding tactics did not work perfectly well as Izu Azuka broke loose, rounded ASO backline before releasing a grounder that beats unrushing Algerian goalkeeper for the second goal in the 68th minute.
After the goal, Sunshine Stars slowed the pace but this almost worked against them as the visitors tried few shots that tested the resolve of Moses Ocheje who put up a five-star performances for his side.
The five-goal hero of Caf Champions League, Azuka was almost making it a brace but his shot went wide while Ocheje stood out to deny the visitors a last minute effort to reduce the goal tally.
Sunshine have now earn their first win of the group games and will be boosted by the win heading to the reversed fixture against the Algerian side later in the month.
