QPR boss Mark Hughes is set to make a move for Roma defender Gabriel Heinze if he fails in his bid for Sunderland's Kieran Richardson.
Black Cats defender Richardson is thought to be his first choice
but there is plenty of competition, especially from West Ham, for the
defender rated at around the £2m mark.
Argentine defender Heinze has been told he can leave Roma for a
nominal fee this summer by new coach Zdenek Zeman and his
representatives have opened discussions with Hughes over a deal.
The 34-year-old former Manchester United and Real Madrid defender can
also play at centre back and his experience would be a major benefit to
Hughes' side.
